As part of Team Codeez from Western Mindanao State University, we developed 'Health-E'—an AI-driven interoperable electronic health record system. Our MVP was selected as a top innovation out of 14 competing universities nationwide at the Byte Forward Hackathon 2025, landing us 2nd Place and a National Finalist spot at the 51st Philippine Business Conference & Expo.
The problem we aimed to solve was the critical delay in accessing vital medical information during emergencies. Regional medical barriers often result in fragmented patient data, creating a dangerous information gap for first responders.
To address this, we architected an intelligent guidance system focused on emergency accessibility. The core of Health-E relies on an instant-access mechanism through QR-based and NFC scanning technologies, letting medical professionals pull up secure information immediately when time is of the essence.

One of the standout features we implemented was a medical information accessibility layer, powered by an AI Chatbot and an integrated Optical Character Recognition (OCR) engine. This allowed for the automated extraction of medical context from images, making the system smart enough to parse documents and aid first responders intelligently.

Our journey started in the Mindanao Leg of the hackathon in Tagum City, where we advanced to represent the region, in the national finals in Pasay City was a testament to our team's shared vision of using technology for social good, and an incredible milestone in delivering a functional, life-saving technical solution.
