This one started the way most fun projects do — I was bored, scrolling through social media, and kept running into those AI-generated Italian brainrot quiz videos. You know the ones: surreal AI-generated creatures with ridiculous pseudo-Italian names like Tralalero Tralala and Bombardiro Crocodilo, and you have to guess which name belongs to which cursed image. I watched way too many of them and thought — why not just build my own version as a website so anyone can test how deep their brainrot knowledge goes?
For those unfamiliar, Italian brainrot is this internet trend that blew up in early 2025 where people use AI to generate bizarre hybrid creatures — think a shark wearing Nike sneakers or a crocodile fused with a bomber plane — and give them fake Italian-sounding names. It started on TikTok and spread everywhere, spawning its own lore, fandom, and of course, quizzes.
The app is fully client-side — no backend needed. I built it with React, Tailwind CSS, and TypeScript to keep things snappy and lightweight. The whole point was fast, playful interactions: quick rounds, instant feedback, and a vibe that matches the absurdity of the meme itself. It loads fast, runs smooth on mobile, and doesn't take itself seriously — just like the source material.
It is not the most technically complex project in my portfolio, but it is one of the most fun. Sometimes you just want to build something because it makes you laugh, and this was exactly that. Turns out other people enjoyed it too.
